“A toastmaster is your eyes, ears – and an extra pair of hands.”
Everything will run like clockwork, and just as you dreamed.
A wedding is perhaps the most important day of your life so far. Having spent sometimes many months planning it, and a considerable sum of money, you might find the whole experience quite daunting.
On the day, you will want to relax and enjoy it from start to finish. Couples know what they want. It is largely my responsibility to make sure that your plans are delivered on the day.
I have experience of the following weddings – Civil, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, Chinese, Greek, Turkish, Persian, Ukrainian, same sex weddings and mixed cultures.
Before the big day
There are no rules for weddings and they are all unique and special. I always like to meet couples some weeks before the big day, to discuss every aspect of the wedding they are planning.
This allows me to fully understand how you would like your day to run, so that I may diplomatically and politely, on your behalf, liaise with suppliers and everyone involved both before and on the day.
The result is that couples can feel confident in their choice of toastmaster and be relaxed, feeling assured that they have a ‘wedding angel’ there to make the day as stress-free and successful as possible.
I am also happy to offer any advice or answer any last-minute questions, especially as the wedding day approaches.
The speeches
Being an experienced public speaker, I am also happy to help advise on the content and delivery of speeches, particularly when those giving them are nervous. At your wedding, I will do everything possible to help them to feel at ease and enjoy the experience.
How I help on the day
When the wedding day arrives, I will be there two hours before the start of the service or ceremony to check everything possible, referring to my meticulous notes taken during our meetings and chats.
During the day I will be constantly available to make your wedding seamlessly unfold for you as you wish it to. I will do all that I can to ensure that the couple, their families and guests can relax and enjoy every minute of a very special day.
Some of the things I do during the day may include:
- Arrive early to check the venue.
- Greet and direct guests and assist with cards and presents.
- Assist with gathering guests for group photographs
- Constantly liaise with suppliers and venue staff.
- Discretely remind the wedding party where they need to be and what is about to happen at any stage.
- Coordinate and announce the opening dance.
- Liaise with speakers and coordinate and announce the speeches.
- Announce and coordinate the cake cutting ceremony.
- Keep a discreet eye on the time and gently ease things along if necessary
- ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING ELSE to make the day a success
Your day, your style
I am always happy to adjust my style to fit the occasion, whether you are planning quite a formal affair or something much more relaxed.
Whatever the style, I will always look immaculate and, being highly visible, usually in a smart red tailcoat, I can always be found. I become the ‘go to person’ for your guests with any questions. I’m there for you, but also for them.
You do not want to have the stress of any little hiccups. Wherever possible, I would rather resolve them quietly without you ever hearing about it!
I usually stay until all you have to do is ‘party’ and then I quietly take my leave after checking with you that nothing further is required from me.
