Frequently asked questions

What does a toastmaster do?

I could write pages about what a toastmaster might do!  Many people have no experience of seeing toastmasters.  Others have been at events with toastmasters but do not always concentrate on what they are seeing!  In fact I like to be discretely in the background whenever appropriate.  (I appreciate that this is not always easy in a bright red jacket J).

Not all toastmasters are the same and have different styles, experience and abilities.  Rather than try to explain what a toastmaster might do, I would rather chat to you, explain my services and what I do, and specifically in relation to your particular function.  This will vary, sometimes significantly, from one wedding or event to another.

We may arrange this as a personal meeting, on the phone or via Zoom or Teams or other online forum.

I can also assure you that nobody receives a ‘hard sell’ from me.

If I may assist at your event I would be delighted!

Why use a toastmaster?

Your wedding or event is a major financial and personal commitment, and I am sure that you would like it to be completely successful and enjoyable for all concerned. Using the right toastmaster goes a very long way to ensuring that success.

What does it cost?

My fees will depend upon the nature of your event, the distance I have to travel and, to some extent, the timings of the function. Please contact me for a quotation.

What area do you cover?

I will work in the Southeast, London, anywhere in the UK and anywhere in the world!

What days do you work?

I am available 365 days a year but avoid working on my wedding anniversary 🙂

How long do you stay?

I invariably arrive 2 hours before the start of any event and stay until there is nothing more you need me to do.

Can someone else do what you do?

I am aware that some DJs and some magicians will say that they will do their job as well as act as your Master of Ceremonies! When I am there, I have just ONE job, that of making sure that your event is the success you want it to be!

When do I need to book?

Once I am booked, I am totally committed to your function. Therefore, the earlier you book me, the less likely I am to be already engaged elsewhere.

Can I meet you before booking?

I thoroughly recommend that you do. Your toastmaster plays a major role in ensuring success and I would like you to have confidence that my ability, experience and personality and in keeping with what you are looking for. To that end I am happy to meet you personally if practicable or, at the very least, virtually via Zoom, Teams or similar.
